JOB DESCRIPTION

The Courseware Developer I is responsible for the production of training materials using program guidelines and for the maintenance of courseware using the Instructional System Development (ISD) process.
Works with assigned Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop/update/maintain courseware products through a process that includes review and research of government furnished materials (GFM) such as regulations, technical orders, etc.
Prepares task lists, reports, records, interviews SMEs, locates and extracts information from technical documents and synthesizes the results of activities in a standard format.
Maintains training materials in a variety of media.  Follows established guidelines/processes to maintain training materials for delivery in a classroom setting, by computer-based training and by instructors, in conjunction with actual or simulated equipment and systems. Maintains computer-based training (CBT) to include updating libraries from the server, replacing graphics within CBT lessons, ensuring graphics flow, interaction, feedback, test questions and test question remediation within the CBT lesson.
Utilizes various media software tools and technologies to transform graphical concepts into specific electronic applications by integrating video, animation, still images, text, and audio for CBTs.
Use actual photographs from aircraft parts, panels and components to creates realistic graphics for use in CBTs.  Also uses color charts and flow diagrams to accurately represent charts and schematics.
Works with other team members and the customer to validate training materials.
Revises courseware documents and training materials on the basis of reviews by Courseware Support Lead, management, quality assurance and the customer.
Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of flight and/or aircrew training.
• Solid knowledge of computer graphics equipment and techniques.
• Solid knowledge of Adobe CS Suite, Sound Forge, font editing (otf & ttf)
• Ability to make minor graphic changes as needed using Adobe Products.
• Working knowledge of SCORM/AICC standards.
• Working knowledge of the Instructional System Development (ISD) process.
• Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
• Ability to work independently or in conjunction with others.
• Ability to exercise judgment in interpreting instructions and to conform to established standards for ISD document and training materials design, format, word usage and writing style.
• Ability to assume responsibility for accuracy and completeness of work produced.
• Ability to use computerized database, word processing and computer-based training tools to develop and revise ISD documents and training materials.
• One year of experience in instructional analysis, development, delivery, or technical writing.
• One year of experience in computer graphics and the production of visual materials
• Knowledge of CBT systems is also highly desired.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent work experience is desired..

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Certifications, Etc.)

Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
Occasional travel required.
Work hours: M-F, 0800-1700. Occasional overtime may be required as mission dictates. 
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
