JOB DESCRIPTION

Observes and reports airspace incursion by manned aircraft when UAS are flying in or around joint use airfields. 

1) Makes periodic checks on buildings, grounds,and equipment associated with UAS Flight Operations. 
2) Monitors access to airspace and reports intrusion to Mission Commander. Monitors Air Traffic Control frequencies. 
3) Participates in training activities. 
4) Participates in special projects as required. 
5) Maintains Inventory control of all items needed to perform Ground Observer duty. Reports shortfalls/deficiencies and orders replacement equipment through appropriate channels. 
6) When not engaged in primary duties, performs authorized secondary duties per the Statement of Work Supports 24 hour flight operations and rotates shifts as necessary to provide support.
7) May support Downed Aircraft Recovery Teams. 
8) Maintains currency in all mandatory training associated with all assigned duties
9) May perform apprentice level support functions in areas where previous work experience meets/exceeds the Contract Performance Work Statement (e.g. Flight Line Support, Mission Support, Logistics, Tool Room or Administrative duties)

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must obtain an FAA Class II Airman's Flight Physical prior to employment and maintain this requirement through employment
2. Complete Government provided Observer training and maintain currency
3. Ability to obtain a Contractor’s Driver License to operate Government vehicles
4. Must be able to work rotational shift work
 
Preferred:

1) 1-3 years of related security guard or military experience preferred but not required. Aviation/Military Radio communications experience is a plus. Aviation airfield operations experience is a plus.
2) Additional trades, vocational, administrative skills (Flight Records experience) that allow for advancement into other UAS, aviation, flight line support, or logistics positions on this contract

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Graduate, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or work/military experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Certifications, Etc.)

Travel up to 10% required.
